LCW & RumFest...
Lot's Going On, But Can You Do It All?
It's going to be the best rummy week we've ever known - all manner of events and opportunities to get involved with your favourite rum brands and it all starts on Monday 6th October...
Brands like Trinidad's finest, Angostura are taking up residence for the week with what promises to be a sensory experience at The Butterfly House. A series of interesting presentations, cocktails and the chance to find out more about the rums and the people who produce them. To learn more: click here.
Plantation Rum and El Dorado Rum have exceptionally packed schedules, featuring in a number of places all through the week. Our tip for the £4 cocktail is to get along to Trailer Happiness as they have serves featuring both brands on offer during the week. To find out about Plantation Rum's plans, click here and to keep up to date with El Dorado (and the most amazing series of rum pairings we've ever heard of), click here.
The RumFest generally features its fair share of product launches and this year is no different. From the Caribbean Island of Barbados, St Nicholas Abbey are presenting an advance tasting opportunity of their brand new 5 Year Old rum. Produced entirely on the estate, this is a rum that's been long awaited: find out more here.
Ron Cubay, the authentic rum from Cuba also feature a brand new premium expression to their range: Extra Viejo. It looks a million dollars and you'll get the opportunity to sip a little for yourself at RumFest. Find out more by clicking here.
We thought we were being pretty clever by saving ourselves some time in combining five events into a single article... Trouble is we then found out about a whole load more and had to feature five more! From bottle signings with the LARGER than life Ron Jeremy and his namesake rum, Ron de Jeremy to screenings of Prohibition era, Rum Runner Bill McCoy (The Real McCoy no less...) to tutored tastings with Tito Cordero, Diplomático Rum’s Master Blender... The list goes on and on! Check out our increasingly inaccurate summaries of "Five Can't Miss Events At London Cocktail Week" and "Five More Can't Miss Events At London Cocktail Week". PS - we cheated in the second one and stuck around ten things to do in it...
TheFloatingRumShack.com is getting heavily involved with proceedings this year too. We've presentations on European Rums at the Craft Distilling Expo, The Bluffers Guide To Rum at the CheekyTiki/Bespoke Barware Pop-up at Atomica Gallery, "The Spice is Right" presentations with Pink Pigeon Vanilla Spiced Rum at Barrio Central and we'll also be hosting a cachaca event (Sunday 3-3.45pm, seminar room 1) at RumFest as well. Sounds exhausting right?
If we survive the week in one piece, I think we'll have earned a large glass of something fab. See you there!
