Seasons Greetings To Our Fellow Rummies,

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all the very best of times this Christmas Season!

There’s always a good reason why you might catch us with a glass of rum in our hand… Generally there’s something to celebrate, but Christmas just seems to present so many more valid reasons (other than the fact we are thirsty!). It’s a social time of course, but it’s also a reflective time. A chance to put your feet up and watch a movie or the like. In any event, something nice to drink is a great accompaniment to the situation and that’s where we like to think we can help with our rum suggestions.

In this newsletter, we’ve a couple of gift suggestions and a few seasonal serves that will go down well. Perhaps you fancy making your own spiced rum? There’s plenty of time, so why not check it out by clicking here.

2015 is going to start in awesome mode for someone as we’ve teamed up with The Westbourne Drinks Company for our first Twitter-based competition. Gifting Ideas

(or a Treat for Yourself)

We've put together a few rummy suggestions that that are either hidden gems or firm favourites that you really shouldn't overlook. With so many choices, it was tough to narrow it down, but we’d love to hear about any you’d recommend. Check out the article by clicking here.

If you’re looking for a simple gift ideas, then Charbonnel et Walker are selling some fab Appleton Estate Rum Truffles, they are not particularly expensive but are super scrummy and guaranteed to be well received. Probably best to buy two packs and keep one for yourself.

Sailor Jerry have a great little ‘Jerry Can’t Resist Ginger’ gift pack out in Sainsbury’s at the moment and are also featuring collectible packs that contain limited edition prints of some of Sailor Jerry’s more famous artwork.

Have you got your Christmas Crackers yet? Master of Malt have released a set containing drams of spirits... Yes... Possibly a little dangerous on a number of levels, but lots of fun all the same!

It’s one of the best cocktail books we've ever read: Beachbum Berry’s Potions of the Caribbean is on Amazon. So much history, humour and predominantly rummy cocktails to make ensure it’s been a fav at RumShack HQ ever since it came out.

Seasonal Cocktails and Simple Serves

We've recently featured a couple of Wray & Nephew Overproof rum based warm serves (Spiced Cider and Coco Wray) and we've a number of great Bacardi Oakheart serves from a little while ago that have proved exceptionally popular.

Fans of Sailor Jerry will remember the fabulous Heavy Punch and (should you make particularly Merry) for the morning after Sailor Jerry’s Morning Glory Cocktail will probably tick all the right boxes. Might be worth prepping accordingly…

Oh and should the cold weather get the better of you, a super simple Rum Hot Toddy will surely make you feel better!

Competition Time!

Our friends at The Westbourne Drinks Company will ensure one lucky winner will start 2015 in style, by taking receipt of a bottle of The Duppy Share Caribbean Rum along with some of the ingredients you’ll need to make their Hot Apple Punch serve as well.

It’s simple to enter, but you’ll need to be on Twitter to do it.

How to enter:

Ensure you are following both us (@FloatingRumShac) and @TheDuppyShare then looking on either of our Twitter timelines, find the competition Tweet that contains the following hashtag: #DuppyXmas14 and simply retweet to enter.

The competition is free to enter as long as you are a UK resident aged 18 or older. Our terms and conditions of entry can be found here – please do take a moment to check them out.

The competition will close at the end of the year, with the winner being randomly selected from the entries in early January 2015, we will then get in touch via Twitter to verify the winners personal details.

2015 And Beyond…

Next Year looks to be bigger and better than ever before for the dedicated rummy.
